Yes. We have Black therapists on our team — including Black male therapists and Black female therapists. If having a therapist who shares your background matters to you, let us know when scheduling and we will match you by gender preference and availability. You should never have to settle for a therapist who doesn't feel like a fit.
Racial trauma (also called race-based traumatic stress) results from experiences of discrimination, racism, racial violence, and the ongoing stress of navigating a racist society. It can produce PTSD-like symptoms and is addressed through trauma-informed, culturally responsive therapy.
Historically, Black communities have faced significant barriers to mental health care, including stigma, distrust of the medical system, lack of culturally competent providers, and financial barriers. We work actively to reduce all of these barriers.
